The Southern University Lady Jaguars softball team will host
the Cowgirls of McNeese State University to a 3:00 pm single
contest at Lady Jaguar field on Tuesday, March 17.
Southern’s (7-12, 2-3 SWAC) catcher,
Aruba Nicholas leads the team and the Southwestern Athletic
Conference in batting with a .370 average.
The Stone Mountain, Georgia native also leads the
team in runs with 16 and hits with 20.
Junior Lanaya Jenkins is currently second in the
conference with a 4.34 era.
She ranks first in opposing batting average .262,
innings pitched 71, batters struck out 39 and games started
with 10.
The
game is the second meeting in less than a
week; McNeese defeated Southern 5-2 in Lake Charles last Thursday.
The Cowgirls collected seven hits in the game.
The event is
free and open to the public.
