With its senior lineup in the game SU scored in the first

The season finale started with Prairie View's first run
of the day. PV's leadoff batter Artivia Woods struck out but
SU's catcher Kasha Tauriac dropped the third strike. Jasmine
Littles then hit a two base shot to right field which
allowed the speedy Woods to come all the way from first and
score. SU was not to be out-done tying the score at one in
the bottom of the first. The Lady Jaguars sophomore pitcher
Caroline Myers would then go to work holding the Lady
Panthers scoreless until the top of the fourth. Littles
stepped to the plate and singled into right field scoring
Prairie View's Elizabeth Alvarado. By that time SU was
already holding an 8-1 lead when they added to it with a Kia
Williams run in the fifth. With the score 9-2 heading into
the top of the seventh Prairie View decided to not lay down
and went on a five run, five hit inning that was finally
ended by a quick thinking Steamer who caught PV's Kesha
Haggerman's line drive that sailed over the pitchers' left
shoulder. The freshman then turned to third base and threw
out Karen Calvin to end the game.
Tauriac led SU at the plate finishing 3 for 3 with two
runs, and two runs batted in. Jasmone Williams batted 1.000
for the second straight game recording two runs and two
hits. Myers posted her second win of the season. Head coach
Nancy Marshall ends her 14th regular season at SU 15-26
overall and 12-5 in the SWAC.
"It has been an interesting season," said Marshall. "We
lost four key kids but April Augustine stepped up on the
field and really came around as a senior. I cannot give
enough praise to that kid for what she's done."
SU will have a week and a half off before they venture to
Irondale, Alabama for the 2010 SWAC softball postseason
tournament.
