The Cowgirls wasted no time in the opening game with a
run rule 8-0 five inning win. Southern (8-21) was held to
one hit for the second time this season. McNeese held the
Lady Jaguars to a solo shot in their first game of the year.
Jasmine Tillman was credited with the single.
In game two Victoria Stewart, Aruba Nicholas and
Shawntall Steamer were the only three Lady Jags to belt a
hit off of McNeese pitcher, Kayla Sheppard. Sheppard struck
out five and helped leave four on base as SU picked up their
21st lost of the season. The scoring could have been worse
as the Cowgirls left 13 on base.
Southern returns to action on Wednesday, April 7, as they
play game three of their six game home-stand versus Nicholls
State University. The single contest is scheduled for 3:00
pm at Lady Jaguar field.
