Originally scheduled for March 10, the event will still
feature a silent auction where fans can bid on a variety of
items including the pink jerseys and helmets worn by the
team during the game. Fifty percent of ticket sales and 100
percent of the proceeds from the silent auction will benefit
the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure Houston
Affiliate.
Pins will be available to purchase for $2 commemorating
the event and all proceeds will be donated to the Komen
Foundation. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to show
their support.
SUSAN G. KOMEN FOUNDATION
Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer for years and during
her treatment sessions envisioned a way to make life better
for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying
about her own situation. That concern for others continued
even as Susan neared the end of her fight. Moved by Susan's
compassion for others, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister
that she would continue Susan's legacy and also continue the
crusade to end breast cancer forever.
The Komen foundation is now a global leader for the
breast cancer movement, having invested nearly $1.5 billion
since inception in 1982. Through the world's largest
grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists,
the foundation is now the largest source of nonprofit funds
dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
